Alain de Saint-Ogan is familiar with representing animals, including the cock. He imagined scenes and stories with it, as other wellknown graphists and illustrators since 2 centuries: Gustave Doré, Granville, Bertall, Wilhelm Busch, Benjamin Rabier, Joseph-Porphyre Pinchon, Auguste Vimar, André Pécoud, Samivel? et in the Press : André François.

In a set of funny little advertising books for La Vache qui rit in 1956, Alain de Saint Ogan illustrates the French cock as a symbol of the 4th Republique. Cf Exposition à l'abbaye de Saint-Riquier, 2003.
