Alec SEVERIN Spirou Sous le Manteau

Bruxelles
13 Sep > 6 Oct 2013

Presentation

For this exhibition, Alec Severin appears in the guise of Léopold Avrenski (a purely fictional and yet larger-than-life illustrator, born in Ixelles in 1923) in order to present his new album Spirou sous le manteau.
Imagine yourself back in the Second World War… Banned by the Germans in 1943, Spirou’s Journal is still being produced and distributed clandestinely in the streets of Brussels.
Getting hold of the most recent adventures of Spirou, Fantasio and Spip – who share in the daily life of the local inhabitants under the Occupation – is like hunting for treasure: on each new adventure a code is printed indicating the place and date of distribution of the next issue.
