LUZ Testosterror VS Procreator
Presentation
When he was a press cartoonist, Luz used his sharp drawing style, clever writing, and quick wit to make fun of stupidity. Since becoming a full-time comic book author, he has kept the same powerful and critical view of society. In 2023, with Testosterror (Albin??Michel), he humorously explored the dangers of masculinism, mixing caricature with an almost futuristic apocalyptic vision of a France worn down by an epidemic affecting men?s testosterone. But that first book had not said everything.
After spending time creating Deux filles nues, which rightly won an award at Angoulême in 2025, Luz now turns to the theme of demographic rearmament, and more specifically male fertility. By following the same family as in the first book and introducing new instantly recognizable characters, the artist goes further in Procréator, exploring both social pressure and male sexuality. And the result is just as darkly funny as before.
The richness and energy of his storytelling stand out, as do the liveliness of his ink work and his talent for dialogue and image composition. Every original page overflows with creativity, using humor to warn us about the intellectual decline threatening society.
A selection of original pages from these two books will be exhibited at the Huberty & Breyne gallery, Paris | Chapon space, from May 23 to June 13.
