Presentation

First exhibited at the Christian Desbois gallery in Paris in 1994 – in other words, some ten or so years after his comic strip debut – Jean-Claude Götting’s work as a painter has almost always focused on the female form, although the artist defines the latter as a motif rather than a subject.
Götting’s paintings and large-format black-and-white drawings, and also his handful of wooden sculptures, brought together today at the gallery Huberty & Breyne offer viewers the opportunity to discover for themselves the power of this artist’s work, which is extraordinarily expressive but at the same time has a gentle, almost timeless, quality.
