François AVRIL, Claude VIALLAT
François AVRIL & Claude VIALLAT
Presentation
For the exhibition “Quelques instants plus tard…” (“Moments Later…”), Claude Viallat and François Avril worked together to create two powerful compositions successfully combining very different artistic universes.
This collaboration led to a lasting friendship and a shared desire to repeat the experience and, from the 1st to the 24th February 2013, the two artists are showcasing their most recent creations – works that hover somewhere between the abstract and the figurative – at Huberty & Breyne’s Brussels gallery.
On display are some thirty colourfully patterned works by Claude Viallat using huge tarpaulin sheets and bits of fabric and, alongside them, a series of landscapes and cityscapes created by François Avril in 2013 and seen here for the first time.
This is a bold initiative by the Huberty & Breyne Gallery which, in bringing together the work of two very different artists, succeeds in giving each a totally new resonance.
