François AVRIL Carte blanche à François Avril Château Beychevelle

Presentation

The Château Beychevelle is giving François Avril carte blanche. Over the course of a summer, the artist will be treating visitors to a tour-in-pictures around this ancient domain, covering the château walls with his elegant and delicate images.
François Avril sees the world differently from the rest of us. The world he presents to the viewer has a pared-back simplicity; his is a utopia of urban and natural landscapes, a world of the imagination seen through the filter of memory. Avril is not looking to represent reality as it is, but the unique Truth that it embodies, the essence of what he sees: he is a frontiersman inhabiting the borders of abstraction.
From the vat-house to the wine stores, François Avril tackles his favourite themes, taking his inspiration from the formal and natural repertoire that surrounds the famous Beychevelle vineyard. Drawing on his internal world, he offers visitors a novel and poetic vision of landscape, space and composition. Viewers are invited to immerse themselves in the artist’s universe while moving from one area of the château to another.
The vat-house will be hosting a monumental installation comprising three graphic works; two large landscape frescoes will adorn the ancient stone walls of the wine stores, while a selection of new paintings and drawings will be on show in the tasting rooms.

Visits by appointment.
