PARIS | Les Arts dessinés

9 Feb > 5 Mar 2022

Presentation

Gérard DuBois is an illustrator who has many strings to his bow. "I'm best when I'm working from a text," he told Frédéric Bosser in an interview for Les Arts Dessinés (issue 17). DuBois's remark reflects the ethos of the new gallery at 19 rue Chapon, where the intention is to showcase contemporary drawing in all its forms. Keeping faith with the magazine and its values, the Galerie Les Arts Dessinés sets out to represent the plurality and wealth of the contemporary graphic scene.

From 9 February to 5 March 2022, the Galerie Les Arts Dessinés is delighted to be showing the work of Gérard DuBois, a French artist who now lives in Canada. This retrospective exhibition includes 22 of the artist's works, produced between 2004 and 2007, and provides an overview of the different approaches employed by DuBois during this shortish period, demonstrating the richness of his oeuvre in terms of both style and technique (Indian ink, gouache on paper, mixed techniques). Dubois's images have been the focus of exhibitions in Canada, France, Italy, and the United States, and specifically in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Paris, Miami, Montreal and Toronto.

Private view: Tuesday 8 February from 6.00 pm to 9.00 pm
