Presentation

The Huberty & Breyne Gallery is delighted to be hosting an exceptional Michel Vaillant exhibition bringing together 58 original plates by Vaillant's creator, Jean Graton, 24 Art Strips (limited-edition, large-format prints of some of the strips from the original plates), 14 blueprints by Francine Graton and two Vaillante (road and racing) cars.

The original plates on show are from Jean Graton's iconic albums Le Grand Défi (1959), Le Pilote sans visage (1960), Le Circuit de la peur (1961), La Trahison de Steve Warson (1964), L'Honneur du Samouraï (1966) and Le Fantôme des 24 Heures (1970).

Central to the exhibition are the four plates from La 24e Heure (1957) - one of the five short stories written to test the reaction of Tintin magazine's readership to Graton's hero. Visitors to the exhibition will have the opportunity to view an alternative to the published ending, revealed here for the first time.

Private view: Wednesday 9 March 2022 from 5.00 pm to 8.00 pm
