Stéphane BLANQUET Écailles rouges en fond de gorge
Presentation
The Huberty & Breyne Gallery is delighted to be showing works by Stéphane Blanquet in its avenue Matignon gallery. The exhibition, which runs from 29 April to 28 May 2022, is the gallery?s first exhibition dedicated to this multimedia artist.
On show will be a retrospective selection of Blanquet?s graphic work, including ink drawings, tapestries and wooden and ceramic sculptures, together with a new series of drawings entitled ?Rouge intérieur? and a majestic totem pole almost two metres high, both produced specially for the exhibition.
Stéphane Blanquet is a multi-disciplinary artist with clear links to underground art. His disturbing landscapes, incorporating anatomical elements, appear to the viewer as a single coherent organism. They are landscapes of the mind that raise questions ? subtly but surely ? about the boundaries between human beings and their environment and between nature and civilisation.
Blanquet?s ground-breaking work can be situated midway between figurative art and art brut and is regularly exhibited in both mainstream cultural institutions and more alternative venues, both in Europe and in Asia.
Private view: Thursday 28 April 2022 from 6.00 pm to 9.00 pm, in the presence of the artist
Works available to view online from Friday 29 April 2022.
