Yvan POMMAUX Angelot du Lac, Marion Duval & dessins jeunesse

Presentation

From 2 to 23 September, the Huberty & Breyne | Les Arts dessinés gallery will be showing a selection of drawings by the children?s book author and illustrator Yvan Pommaux.

Born in Vichy on 13 September 1946, Yvan Pommaux has been drawing since an early age. After studying at the School of Fine Arts in Clermont-Ferrand and later Bourges, he had various working roles before becoming a layout artist for Éditions de l?École (later L?École des loisirs) in Paris.

During the 1970s, Pommaux left Paris, moving to Touraine with his wife and two daughters, and began working independently on a whole variety of projects, in collaboration with his wife, who is a colourist.  Pommaux has more than 30 publications to his name, ranging from comic book to documentary and children?s literature, and including mysteries, love stories and beautifully recrafted classics.

This exhibition will be showing a selection of plates from his series Angelot du Lac, which tells the story of a group of orphans in the Middle Ages struggling to survive in a country ravaged by the Hundred Years War. There will also be plates from Marion Duval, his series relating to a 9-year-old girl living in Paris, and various drawings taken from the albums Corbeille et Corbillo and John Chatterton (whose protagonist is a feline detective).
