Presentation

Eight diptychs, three themes, sixteen striking images. Andreas is an avid cartoon fan and has been quietly building a magnificent comic-book oeuvre since Rork, his famous protagonist, first appeared in the pages of Tintin magazine in 1978.

For this exhibition, Andreas has abandoned comic strip and created instead large-format images whose size, beauty and power instantly draw the eye. Some of them feature his familiar characters Rork and Deliah, but Andreas has also moved here into unfamiliar territory in creating a breathtaking series of hommages to Batman and – by way of splendid conclusion – a  diptych featuring two highly symbolic female figures from Greek mythology – the Gorgon and Pandora.

This exhibition and sale is, in the truest sense, exceptional, since Andreas insists that it is a one-off and that after this series of drawings he will be returning permanently to comic-book creation.
