Presentation

This is the story of a collaboration between Emmanuel Lemaire and Alain Beaulet ? an artist fascinated by the sprawling structures of urban architecture and a publisher intent on producing beautifully crafted books. The result, Paris toits chats, is a work as precise and poetic in terms of appearance as it is in terms of content. And at the heart of it ? in their element, a dominant, prowling, watchful presence, casually occupying the rooftops ? are cats and more cats, creatures we can readily imagine reigning over this airy domain. For Emmanuel Lemaire, it all starts with close observation, and with line work, a careful patterning of very fine lines in an effort to compose, recompose, work with, and ultimately deliver a personal vision of reality. From 2 to 18 April 2026, a selection of Lemaire?s drawings will be on display in our gallery space at Paris | Matignon - Espace Mezzanine.
