In 2014, the Huberty & Breyne gallery is continuing to explore the graphic links between Art and Comic Strip.
From the 7th of February to the 2nd of March 2014, the gallery is hosting an exhibition bringing together recent works by artist and sculptor Peter Klasen, comic strip creator Alex Varenne and that master of illustration Edmond Baudoin.
Organised in three “chapters”, the exhibition follows the creative paths of each of these three artists while converging on a shared thematic: Nature.
Nature as cannibalisation of the environment by mechanised industry in Klasen’s compositions, an eroticised Nature, dominated by the female form, in Varenne’s paintings, and a dreamlike vision of the landscape and the female body as evoked in the drawings of Edmond Baudoin.
The works exhibited here challenge the viewer to think about the act of contemplation itself, about the primary importance of the feminine, and about our place in Nature and our impact on the natural environment.
