Some fifty or so retrospective works by Jo Vargas and Edmond Baudoin lift the veil on these two artist's literary and pictorial preoccupations, each having chosen a rather different medium for communicating their reflections on the world.
Jo Vargas is a painter. She asks questions about memory, that great library of the unconscious, and about the memory that lies embedded in painting.
Edmond Baudoin is a creator of comic strips, an illustrator and a painter fascinated by the mystery of all things feminine. On the surface, these two artists have little in common other than an unwavering friendship that dates back twenty-five years and an immense respect for, and shared interest in, one another’s work.
