Presentation

On 5 March, Huberty & Breyne is opening a new 150m² exhibition space dedicated to the art of comic strip, at 36 avenue Matignon, in the 8th arrondissement of Paris. To mark the occasion, the gallery is hosting a joint exhibition celebrating the work of Milo Manara (born in 1945) and Hugo Pratt (1927-1995).
Despite the many things that bound them together – friendship, drawing, women, and a taste for adventure – Manara and Pratt have never been exhibited in tandem before. Alain Huberty and Marc Breyne have chosen to showcase the graphic universes of these two great comics artists and their collaborative efforts through a judicious selection of more than fifty works. On display will be a selection of original panels from the iconic collaborations Un été indien (1983) and El Gaucho (1995), together with some thirty drawings and illustrations produced by Hugo Pratt and hitherto in a private collection.
Milo Manara has created a number of large watercolours and oils specially for the exhibition – homages to the heroes and heroines of his friend’s artistic imagination.
