Christophe CHABOUTÉ Moby Dick - Livre Premier

Paris
4 Apr > 3 May 2014

Presentation

From the 4th of April to the 3rd of May 2014, the Huberty & Breyne Gallery is delighted to be showing, in their entirety, the original plates from the first volume of Christophe Chabouté's adaptation of Moby Dick as well as a selection of the artist's unpublished illustrations.
This virtuoso of the ninth art has set himself the task of adapting Herman Melville's novel while remaining faithful to the original text, reflecting life on a late-nineteenth-century whaling ship, awash with blood, oil and sweat, where desperation tips all too easily into madness.
The thin line separating Good and Evil, the reversal of circumstances depending on one's point of view, emotions of pride and vengeance, all combine to provide a fabulous resource for the author's imagination. The result is every bit as good as the story itself: a succession of images that simply take your breath away.
