Presentation

Huberty & Breyne's Brussels gallery is delighted to be showing a selection of plates from some of the finest Bob & Bobette (Spike & Suzy) albums. The exhibition celebrates the life and work of Flemish comics author Willy Vandersteen " described by Hergé as " the comic strip Brueghel' - through the iconic stories of his so-called "red" period. Exoticism, homage to the comics genre, Belgian adventures, cinematic references, fantasy and history are so many elements in a world that has captivated the imagination of generations of readers, providing an invitation to journey and to dream.

The exhibition runs from 4 February to 20 March and will show some seventy plates created between 1961 and 1970, a particularly exciting decade for one of the key figures in the history of Belgian comics.

Works available to view online from Thursday 4 February 2021.
