Presentation

Where does genius come from? In the case of Ludwig van Beethoven, his genius was undoubtedly linked to a complex childhood and all the difficulties he faced as he was growing up. Mikaël Ross explores the origins of creativity in his album Ludwig et Beethoven, published in France by Dargaud and later translated and published in the United States by Fantagraphics under the title Golden Boy. The portrait he paints of the great composer, while carefully documented, transcends biography thanks to its humour and remarkable sense of rhythm and composition. Each original plate displayed in this exhibition is precisely and minutely drawn and goes straight to the heart of things. At the same time, each has a terrific energy thanks to Ross’s exuberant inking!
