Presentation

Alain Huberty and Marc Breyne are delighted to be showing the plates from Zezelj's Les Pédés album, published by Editions Mosquito, in the Espace rencontres at their gallery in Brussels, from 26 September to 6 October 2018.
We are in Croatia, in a village near Sibenik; it's summer time and the young folk are bored. David and Vanjac have just passed their exams and are spending a lot of time together. David's family have decided to send him away from the village, where people are gossiping about his relationship with Vanjac. Jacob, David's younger brother, overhears snatches of the adults' conversation but has no real idea what's going on.
In this album where events are seen through the eyes of a child, Zezelj and Paljan attack head-on attitudes to homosexuality that smack of intolerance, contempt, incomprehension or outright rejection.
On every page of the album, Zezelj excels in framing his subject in original ways, varying his angles and producing solidly constructed images, all of which demonstrates an impressive mastery of his medium. This is a gripping story and Zezelj's unique style draws the reader in from the outset!
