Yves GOT Le Baron Noir & dessins noir et blanc

Presentation

From 2 to 23 September, the Huberty & Breyne | Les Arts dessinés gallery is delighted to be showing work by author and illustrator Yves Got, well known for his cynical comic strips engaging with politics and current events.

Yves Got was born in Cahors on 31 October 1939. He enrolled at New York?s School of Visual Art, and in 1976 he created the comic series ?Le Baron noir? for L?Écho des Savanes. Scripted by René Pétillon, the series looked at contemporary life through the lens of a cruelly exaggerated animal world.

Alongside his work as a comic book author, Got contributed illustrations to Le Monde, Libération and Le Canard enchaîné, and to a handful of issues of Pilote and Métal hurlant.

In 1985, he started teaching drawing at the École Émile-Cohl, in Lyon, and since 2000 Got has been creating books about a white rabbit called Didou in a series designed for very young children.

This exhibition will be showing several plates from ?Le Baron noir?, as well as some of Got?s press illustrations and other comic drawings.
