Presentation
Gérard Manset and François Avril will be the Huberty & Breyne Gallery's guests of honour for the 2012 edition of the BRAFA Art Fair - an opportunity for Alain Huberty and Marc Breyne to disclose the direction that they are planning to take with their new gallery, due to open on 22 March in the Sablon neighbourhood of Brussels.
In addition to being a singer-songwriter, Gérard Manset is also a painter, photographer and writer. At the BRAFA Art Fair, he will be showing three drawings which he made during the course of his travels - a taster of the solo exhibition the new gallery is due to host next October.
François Avril will principally be showing large-format paintings of New York and the Brittany landscape. An exhibition the gallery will be hosting in September 2012 - "Rencontre entre Claude Viallat et François Avril" - offers further confirmation, if any were needed, that Alain Huberty and Marc Breyne regard Francois Avril as one of their flagship artists.
Avril and Manset's work will be sharing the space with Jean-Claude Götting's languorous female forms, Jacques de Loustal's covers for livre de poche, contributions by Milo Manara, Pierre Mornet's "Mona Lisas", Alex Varenne's black-and-white women and a new work by Bernard Yslaire.
Philippe Geluck will inaugurate the new gallery on 22 March 2012, his Cat adding a touch of mocking humour to a display where these six comic strip authors flirt with different formats and pictorial techniques.
