The auction organised by experts Marc Breyne and Alain Huberty has become a biennial event absolutely not to be missed by fans of the ninth art. Once again it delivers on its promises by offering just under 400 original plates, drawings, covers and pencil sketches signed by the greatest illustrators of the comic strip. In a special tribute to the Universe of Franquin and its heroes, a previously unpublished collection of sketches by Franquin, Wasterlain and Conrad for a Marsupilami cartoon project dating from the mid-1980s is being offered for sale.
The Golden Age of the Franco-Belgian Comic Strip will also be generously represented with remarkable works by Jijé, Macherot, Tillieux, Hergé, Uderzo and Peyo.
The sale closes with an important section devoted to the erotic artists. From Milo Manara via Guido Crépax and Balzano, the attention of collectors is likely to be drawn particularly to a series of drawings by Tanino Liberatore, regarded as the most beautiful collection ever assembled.
