Milo MANARA Rétrospective
Presentation
From 30 April to 31 May 2025, the Huberty & Breyne gallery is hosting a retrospective of original plates by Milo Manara. A hommage to one of the great exponents of European comic strip, this exhibition displays the exceptional richness of Manara’s œuvre with its combination of sensuality, poetry and exquisite craftsmanship. Plates taken from Le Singe, Les Aventures de Giuseppe Bergman, Le Déclic, Le Parfum de l’invisible, L’Été indien and Les Borgia offer visitors an opportunity to study the evolution of an artist who has created a style across the decades that is unmistakeably his own.
Through these artworks – both complete pages and individual strips, executed in direct colour or black and white – the exhibition explores the duality of Manara’s art, its erotic beauty and its more intimate scenes, whether fictional or drawn from life. Every mark made on the paper carries a powerful emotional and aesthetic charge, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in intricate drawings, sensual scene-setting and vivid compositions that redefine the conventions of contemporary adult comic strip.
