David MERVEILLE, ZIDROU Amore
Presentation
Seduction, temptation, passion, separation... Zidrou and David Merveille's superb symphony of love in nine movements is bathed in the warm glow of the Italian sun and viewers are invited to come and sample this new work in the Huberty & Breyne Gallery's Espace Rencontres from 16 October to 13 November 2021.
David Merveille is particularly fond of 1950s Italian cinema and for the last three years has been busy illustrating the bitter-sweet stories of Amore, offering his own reinterpretation of La Dolce Vita.
The exhibition includes a number of original plates from the comic album and also a series of unpublished acrylic illustrations.
"These illustrations are like so many snapshots, stolen moments of intimacy where the spectator deciphers, develops... is it the start or the end of the romance for this couple at the bus stop?"
All the images are artfully composed using a limited palette: four colours for each picture, like the four colours used by David Merveille and Zidrou for each story in Amore.
Preview: Friday 15 October 2021 from 5.00 pm to 8.00 pm, in the presence of the artist.
(Access under presentation of the Covid Safe Ticket)
