Ronan TOULHOAT Daemon - Tome 1 - Les vierges de Thessalie
Presentation
Following his last two digital offerings, Ronan Toulhoat clearly felt the need to return to conventional methods of comic creation for this, his latest saga. Daemon ? the fiery demi-god whose accursed body is gradually turning to stone ? is making his way to Mount Olympus, accompanied by his sidekick, Eugenios. He has a score to settle with Zeus. Pausing their journey in northern Thessaly, the two friends encounter a young woman who has lost her way and is being pursued by fearsome centaurs? With Daemon (Éditions du Lombard), illustrator Ronan Toulhoat and scriptwriter Vincent Brugeas, with colouring assistance from Yoann Guillo, have fulfilled their promise of a classic adventure comic of epic proportions, brimming with action and humour.
The twists and turns of the story and the vigour of Toulhoat?s drawings contribute equally to the work?s epic quality. Toulhoat began by creating a storyboard and precise colour palette. Using very large sheets of paper and working in his wonderfully energetic style, he then drew each original page in Indian ink and (where a scene demanded it) lead pencil.
This exhibition offers viewers a selection of plates from this first volume of the Daemon saga, together with a series of drawings including character studies, designs for bookplates and two book covers in direct colour.
