Gérard Lauzier
Présentation
Gérard Lauzier (1932-2008) was an illustrator, comics author, film maker and screenwriter, and from the 1950s through to the 2000s a remarkable witness of his age. Employing a bold style of drawing and homing in on his target with great acuity and humour, he flags up society’s failings, the advent of the great god marketing, our ingrained habits of sexism, and the archaic and familial structures of business corporations, dismissing extremists of all sorts and their flagrant hypocrisy. La Course au rat, Lili fatale, Les Sextraordinaires Aventures de Zizi et Peter Panpan and La Tête dans le sac are titles that come readily to mind – examples of an oeuvre at once bold, polemical and poetic.
