Presentation

A biennial event not to be missed by fans of the Ninth Art, the auction organised by experts Marc Breyne and Alain Huberty has once more delivered on its promises, offering a catalogue that includes just short of four hundred original plates, drawings, covers and sketches created by some of the finest comic book illustrators.
The sale shines a spotlight on the world of Franquin and his heroes, notably by offering individual works from an unpublished collection of sketches by Franquin, Wasterlain and Conrad, made for a Marsupilami cartoon in the mid-1980s.
Meanwhile, the golden age of Franco-Belgian comics is well represented by a number of remarkable works from Jijé, Macherot, Tillieux, Hergé, Uderzo and Peyo.
The sale concludes with an important section devoted to erotic works by the likes of Milo Manara, Guido Crépax and Balzano, among others. Of particular interest to collectors is a series of drawings by Tanino Liberatore, widely regarded as the finest collection of such works to date.
