Presentation

A major figure on the French art scene, Ben is an artist of Swiss origin born in Italy in 1935. Provocative and iconoclastic, he is known for his performances, installations and paintings and defines his own work as “an Art of appropriation”.
For his first exhibition at the Huberty & Breyne gallery, Ben focuses on his favourite themes – Art and the Ego – but also the creation of … the Comic Strip.
Alain Huberty and Marc Breyne have invited François Boucq to share the main space at the Galerie du Châtelain with Ben. The Lille-born comic book artist, recipient of the Grand Prix d’Angoulême, is celebrating the publication of his new graphic novel by Lombard.
It takes us on a humorous and rather extraordinary adventure with his trademark character Jérôme Moucherot and the exhibition is an opportunity to admire the original pages of this album – but also a series of deliciously funny pictures that pay tribute to the great movements of 20th-century art!
