Presentation

Johan De Moor, son of comics creator Bob De Moor and godson of Willy Vandersteen, the originator of Bob et Bobette, grew up in a world teeming with artistic stimuli.

De Moor was to be a comic artist and political cartoonist, but also a radio producer and humourist.

He worked for Hergé by reviving Les Exploits de Quick et Flupke as a series of animated shorts, overseeing a total of 260 episodes.

Teaming up with writer Stephen Desberg, he published four Gaspard de la nuit adventures, followed by the series La Vache (Casterman), which ran to nine volumes.

With Gilles Dal, he brought out two albums from Le Lombard: Coeur glacé, in 2014, and La Vie à deux, in 2016.

In 2019, De Moor was awarded the Press Cartoon Belgium prize.

In March 1922, Casterman brought out two new albums: Les Sauvages Animaux, produced in collaboration with Stephen Desberg and loosely inspired by the life of Led Zeppelin's manager Peter Grant, and a collection of philosophical and humorous drawings entitled Dessins d'humeur.

The Huberty & Breyne Gallery is delighted to be showing the original plates and unpublished illustrations from these two very special works, which readers will find both heart-warming and thought-provoking.
